John Clifford School

Save Energy 2 Day worked with John Clifford School in the summer of 2018 to upgrade their light fittings and fixtures to LED.

John Clifford School in Beeston, Nottingham is a primary school with more than 400 pupils. Its Victorian buildings have undergone two major refurbishments in recent years, the latest in 2014. However, they didn’t have LED lighting.

Site Manager Pete Rogers said: “Earlier this year we started looking into LED replacements and what the possible savings would be. We realised there was a real mixed bag of lighting fixtures and fittings. Through our own survey, we identified a number of areas that could be upgraded.”

Pete wanted to find a local company to undertake the work, explaining: “I find it’s better to have someone close by; it makes the job easier.”

He said: “We chose Save Energy 2 Day because they offered the complete package. They came back with a schematic of the best lighting options, fully costed, and a time scale that fit. It took all the hassle away.

“Summer is my busiest time so the fact that I didn’t have to chase things or deal with issues made my job much easier. That appealed to me a lot.”

The whole project was completed in under a week.  Pete said: “The crew were really good. I left them the keys and they carried on working into the evening and at the weekend as well. They came in, got on with the job, and finished when they said they would.”

He added: “Martin (Save Energy 2 Day project manager) came in a couple times during the install as well. We walked around the site together and had a look to make sure everything was as we expected.”

In terms of the learning environment, Pete said: “It’s a lot better; it’s definitely brighter. We had a few staff come in before the term started and they noticed the difference straight away.”

Karen Taylor, the school’s business manager, said the project exceeded her expectations. “May I personally thank Save Energy 2 Day for the recent works completed at our school.

“We had a very tight timescale for all the replacement lighting to be done, and it was achieved ahead of schedule. We are looking forward to reaping the benefits of reduced energy costs.”

She added: “I would highly recommend Save Energy 2 Day to other schools.”
